didn't it! Nancy Pelosi and others wanted the bill to only raise minimum wage about two dollars over ten years. But, Republicans wanted added to the bill a tax cut for businesses. So the minimum wage bill did not get past the Senate.
My opinion: Just raise the minimum wage..the consumer ends up getting charged more to compensate anyway. It's no skin off of business; they merely reflect the cost onto the consumer.
But what did past was: A huge tax break for businesses to hire "low income or disadvantaged workers." In other words....let's keep the poor down there where they belong....and let's not try to give them a break!!
